Cookie Policy

What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit them, alongside related browser storage such as localStorage. They make sites work more efficiently and let us recognise a device across requests.

MailOdds is a commerce platform. Two different kinds of pages run on our infrastructure, and they use cookies differently:

  • The MailOdds dashboard and marketing site (mailodds.com) use only a small set of strictly necessary cookies, plus cookieless analytics. No marketing or advertising cookies.
  • Merchant storefronts we host additionally set visitor cookies that power visitor identity, real-time behavioural scoring, and cart recovery. These are not strictly necessary and are set only with your consent under Telecommunicatiewet Article 11.7a.

We do not run third-party advertising or cross-site ad-targeting cookies on either surface. But because the platform scores visitor behaviour to recover carts and personalise commerce, we do not claim "no tracking." This page tells you exactly what is set and on what legal basis.

Strictly Necessary

These cookies are essential for the service you have explicitly requested and cannot be switched off. They are exempt from consent under Telecommunicatiewet Article 11.7a(3) (and align with GDPR Recital 47). If you block them, core features such as staying logged in will not work.

Storefront Visitor Cookies

On merchant storefronts hosted on MailOdds, our visitor-intelligence layer assigns a device an identity, scores its behaviour in real time, and uses that to recover abandoned carts and tailor the commerce experience. This relies on the storage below.

These are not "strictly necessary" to render the page you asked for, so they fall outside the Article 11.7a(3) exemption. They are set only after you consent via the storefront's cookie banner, and you can decline or withdraw at any time. Withdrawing leaves the store fully usable; only the personalised and cart-recovery features stop.

mo_sidMailOdds (storefront)Session identifier grouping page, product, and cart events into one visitHTTP cookieSession (30 min idle)Consent required

Because we combine and analyse a visitor's behaviour to treat them differently (for example, to trigger a cart-recovery message), this activity is presumed to be processing of personal data under Telecommunicatiewet Article 11.7a(4), so the GDPR/AVG applies on top of the consent requirement above. How we process that data, our lawful basis, retention, and your data-subject rights (including the right to object to profiling) are set out in our Privacy Policy.

Analytics

For our own site analytics we use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookieless tool. Plausible does not place any cookies on your device and does not track individual users across sessions or websites.

Because Plausible does not store or access information on your device, it qualifies as minimal-impact, aggregate measurement exempt from the consent requirement under Telecommunicatiewet Article 11.7a(3). This exemption is separate from, and does not cover, the storefront visitor cookies above, which do identify a device and therefore require consent.

How to Manage Cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences in the following ways:

  • Storefront consent banner: On a hosted storefront, the cookie banner lets you accept or decline the visitor cookies (mo_vid, mo_sid) before they are set. You can withdraw consent at any time; the store stays fully usable.
  • Your consent choice: Your decision is remembered in your browser. You can change it later by reopening the banner or by clearing your browser storage for the site.
  • Browser settings: Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Consult your browser's help section for instructions specific to your browser.

Please note that if you block strictly necessary cookies, some features will not function correctly. For example, you will not be able to stay logged in to your account.
